- Entrepreneurs Without Borders (EWB): President Roman Hatashita is a co-founder of this non-profit organization which focuses on developing small businesses in third world or impoverished areas throughout the world.
- Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACE) - a national, not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to teaching and igniting young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Working in partnership with business and higher education ACE delivers two programs on 49 university and college campuses across Canada; a team based program and an individual based program - Students In Free Enterprise and Student Entrepreneur.
- http://kiva.org/ - Kiva's mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty.
Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world.
The people you see on Kiva's site are real individuals in need of funding - not marketing material. When you browse entrepreneurs' profiles on the site, choose someone to lend to, and then make a loan, you are helping a real person make great strides towards economic independence and improve life for themselves, their family, and their community. Throughout the course of the loan (usually 6-12 months), you can receive email journal updates and track repayments. Then, when you get your loan money back, you can relend to someone else in need.
- Free the Children - http://www.freethechildren.com/aboutus/ftchistory.php
Free The Children was founded by 12-year-old Craig Kielburger in 1995 when he gathered 11 school friends to begin fighting child labour. Today, Free The Children is the world's largest network of children helping children through education, with more than one million young people involved in our programs in 45 countries.
